In order to free up the RAM memory that some processes stubbornly use up even after closed, you have two options – rebooting your system, or rely on Wise Memory Optimizer. This tiny utility provides a huge service for free – it not only frees up as much RAM memory as possible with just one click, but also it offers to monitor your RAM and free up any wasted memory automatically.
This one-function utility couldn’t be simpler. It opens in a small one-window interface that tells you all you need to know about your RAM memory, namely its overall size and the amount of used and free MB, both as absolute figures and as a graphical doughnut chart. An “Optimize” button will let you free up all those MB taken up by closed and inactive processes in a snap, making the results visible in real time both in the figures and the chart. In my test, Wise Memory Optimizer was capable of freeing up around 800 MB in just one go. That doesn’t say much in favor of my laptop’s memory management tools, but it does of this tool’s ability to keep away from my RAM memory all unnecessary processes.
Quick, efficient, and extremely simple apps are for the advantage of all users, except for those who like tweaking and customizing as many settings as possible. Wise Memory Optimizer offers but a limited set of options that can be accessed by clicking on the Settings icon, and none of them will let you know (let alone modify) what the program does to free RAM memory and how it does it. Here you can define how the program will behave at Windows startup or when you close the main window. You can also decide if the optimization process will include a clipboard clean-up or not, and – most importantly – if you want the program to run in auto mode. Auto Optimization will optimize your RAM memory whenever it goes below a specific threshold that you define. It will monitor your RAM usage at all times and will perform its one-click optimization process discretely in the background (and only when your CPU is idle, if you wish) so that you don’t have to worry about running out of RAM any more.
Wise Memory Optimizer is small and portable, easy to use, offers no memory optimization options, performs one task only, and it is free. There is not much to add about this app – it simply performs what it promises in an efficient and quiet manner, without taking up any more space and memory than needed, and providing you with an auto optimization feature that will allow you to stop worrying about your RAM memory usage.
